Abstract

Nonlinear numerical modeling applied to soil mechanics has gained more then thirty years of research experience. Based on this experience, Z_SOIL offers now an attractive tool to solve soil mechanics problems in a unified way. A Biot-type hydromechanical model with elastoplastic solid phase, allows for fully coupled primary and secondary consolidation simulation combined with transient flow. This article describes briefly the key features of the program as well as a selection of validation problems.
